Riverside Market's 5th Birthday Party

  • Riverside Market Cnr Lichfield St & Oxford Tce Christchurch New Zealand (map)

Riverside Market is celebrating its 5th birthday on Saturday 28th September! Five years ago, Riverside Market opened its doors, bringing a heartbeat back to the city. It is more than a place for a tasty meal; it is a bustling community hub where local producers and restaurateurs with a shared love for producing quality food and Christchurch come together.

In honour of this milestone and our dedicated stallholders, we're throwing a birthday party with activities for young and old.

From 9.30am: 1,000 cupcakes for children to decorate, upstairs near the Riverside Cantina.

10-12pm: Come and see our face painters, upstairs near the Riverside Cantina.

11am-2pm: The Peace Train will be running. This brightly coloured children's train was donated to Christchurch by musician Yusuf Islam (formerly known Cat Stevens) following the Christchurch Mosque attacks. This beloved feature of Christchurch is often seen on Sunday mornings at Hagley Park.

12pm: Christchurch Mayor Phil Mauger will cut the 5th Birthday cake.

12pm: The Qiao Yi Lion Dance team with George Chan.

5-7pm: Sideling Swing Jazz band outside.

6.30-8.30m: The internationally acclaimed Molly Dawson will be playing live upstairs, Molly is a rising star in music, last year she opened for Robbie Williams at his sold out shows.
