Tea Palace London is a luxury British tea company, renowned for its exceptional loose-leaf blends and elegant tea experiences. With roots in London and a growing international presence, we are bringing our premium teas to Riverside Market in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities:
Service & Customer Experience
Prepare and serve hot tea in teapots for dine-in and takeaway cups.
Explain and recommend teas confidently, including flavour profiles and brewing details.
Engage with customers and encourage sales through knowledgeable upselling.
Curate and manage tea sample offerings based on weather, customer footfall, and tourism patterns.
Team Leadership
Manage, train, and support stall staff to deliver excellent service.
Create rotas and shift schedules using appropriate scheduling software.
Ensure the stall is consistently and reliably staffed at agreed trading hours.
Recruit new staff when needed, including writing and updating job descriptions.
Stock & Inventory Control
Monitor and maintain stock levels with precision, factoring in long UK shipping lead times.
Forecast demand based on seasonal trends, cruise ship arrivals, and other external factors.
Ensure FIFO (First In, First Out) and day-dotting systems are followed.
Restock internal storage regularly from off-site storage (driving preferred but not essential).
Food Presentation & Stall Maintenance
Plate and present food items delivered from suppliers to a high visual standard.
Ensure consistency in product presentation, especially for afternoon tea offerings.
Operate and manage dishwashing station to keep teapots and crockery in rotation.
Assist with basic tech/admin tasks, including minor updates to till systems.
What We’re Looking For
Strong hospitality or retail management experience.
Confident communicator with excellent customer service skills.
Experience in inventory control and stock forecasting essential.
Knowledge of rota planning software and basic computer literacy.
Proactive, organised, and attentive to detail.
Willingness to learn our tea menu and brewing methods thoroughly.
Driving licence preferred (for off-site stock trips).
